A lizard was one of the only things I could draw, the others being a Volkswagen, a mouse and an elephant which all started with the same basic shape. I roll the clay to an even thickness and then use a knife to cut around my pieces. The clay is left to become bone dry, turning them regularly so they dry flat. Then the pieces are hand sanded. Some lizards are colored with an underglaze before the bisque firing. Others are fired plain. After this first firing the lizard is either underglazed with a different underglaze than the first one, or hand painted with pigment. The pieces are then fired for the final glaze firing to about 1,800 degrees. And voila! a lizard, all ready for a brand new forever home.
